In Honor of Those Who Have Served

This year our Post Commander Shawn Bailo, his officers, and the officers from the SAL Squadron, Auxiliary, and A.L.R. Chapter 281 particapated in a Veterans Day Ceremony that is near and dear to our hearts. For all the members at Post 281, the ceremony that we do for this special day is to remind each and everyone of us that because of these men and women we have the opprotunity to be free. The Post Commander takes this day with much pride, because as veterans we have a special bond that will never be broken.

Celebrating the Veterans Day Holiday: In 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month, the world rejoiced and celebrated. After four years of bitter war, an armistice was signed. World War I, the“war to end all wars” was over!  In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the 83rd U.S. Congress -- at the urging of the veterans service organizations -- amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word "Armistice" and inserting the word "Veterans." With the approval of this legislation on June 1, 1954, Nov. 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

Please join us for our program and festivities that will take place on this very important day.
